Personal Injury Law

At Kouyate & Associates Law Firm, we give all our time and resources to representing our clients who have been injured, with no fault of their own, because of the negligence or recklessness of another person or entity. We make sure our clients receive the proper and sufficient compensation for their pain and suffering, loss of wages, medical expenses, loss of consortium, and any other expenses they may have incurred as a result of the accident. For the incept, we determine any party or insurances that may be liable or required to compensate our clients. For that, if applicable, we will file claims for medical payment and/or Uninsured Motorist coverage.

What to do if you are involved in a car accident:

  1. Call 911

Before moving your vehicle from the scene of the accident, call 911 first. Move your vehicle only if it is creating unnecessary traffic on the road. But before you do so, follow step 2 below. The reason for calling the police right after the accident is to expedite any emergency services that you may need on the scene and to make sure that the police can make a report of the accident. The police report is very important in determining liability, therefore do not take for the words of the at-fault driver and fail to call the police. If the at-fault driver later changes his mind and statement, you will more likely not have a case. So, call the police. Always.

  2. Take Pictures as Evidence

Before you move your vehicle, take pictures of the scene of the accident. Take as many pictures as you can from different angles of the scene. Also take pictures of your injuries and the injuries of anyone in your vehicle, damage done to your car and the other car as well as any road conditions. If there are witnesses of the accident, ask if they can wait until the police arrive to give a statement. Otherwise, take their numbers. We will give them a call and take their statements as soon as possible.

  3. Seek Medical Attention

Many times, people do not realize that they are injured until well after a car accident. It is important to see a doctor after you are involved in the accident to ensure that you are completely okay. Please follow your doctor’s instructions, including getting necessary tests, completing treatment, and seeing specialists. If you are not feeling better, go back to your doctor and explain how you feel. While undergoing treatment, explain to doctors how you are feeling and how the accident has impacted your normal life and activities.

  4. Obtain A Copy of The Police Report

Request a copy of the police report as soon as you can. In most cases, the investigating officer will provide to you at the scene of the accident a card with the report number. Keep that card as you will need it to retrieve your report when it is available.   If you cannot get a copy of your police report, we will help you.

  5. Contact our Firm

You should call our office number at 678-691-7107 before you speak to any insurance companies, give any statements, or go to traffic court. Please do not try to negotiate with the insurance adjusters. If they call you, politely refuse to speak with them. Adjusters may seem like nice people, but their only concern is to compensate you less and save money for their company. We know how to protect your rights and give you the compensation you deserve.
